Making a Splash

Lazy days, sweltering heat, and plenty of parking spaces on Lincoln Road means only one thing, summer has officially arrived here in Miami Beach! And with that comes the excitement of knowing that Swim Week, now know as Swim Miami, is a just few weeks away!

New York (June 16, 2016) – “W” marks the spot, literally, as W South Beach hosts LDJ Productions and SBI Production’s second season of runway shows, SWIMMIAMI 2017. Designers, buyers and media from around the world will be welcomed to view the 2017 collections on two glamorous runways at W South Beach.

The event received high-praise last season and recently snagged a spot on Bizbash’s coveted list of Top 100 events in South Florida. The SWIMMIAMI team focused on building on the success of last season’s production consolidating their schedule to one property in order to create a hub where swim week attendees can mix, mingle and attend runway shows from top designers on the outdoor runway set atop the W South Beach pool and a more intimate runway that will be erected in a state-of-the-art tent dubbed the “Lycra Swim Salon” on the northwest event lawn.  SWIMMIAMI will also be introducing eco-friendly and sustainable efforts through its partnerships with Lycra and bobble®. Several designers will be showcasing sustainable and eco-friendly fabrics produced by sponsor, Lycra, and bobble, the leader in sustainable and stylish drinking solutions, will provide refillable water stations where guests can stay hydrated (and skip single-serve bottled water) with bobble Insulate, the brand’s new insulated, stainless steel bottle that keeps beverages cold for up to 24 hours.

Consolidating the runway platforms to one venue allows industry insiders to bypass the heat and avoid running all over the beach since the hotel will also host top swimwear tradeshow, Hammock, and is in close proximity to other trade shows and the other main runway venue managed by a local South Florida company. Hammock has become a must visit stop on the swimwear tradeshow circuit for buyers and they have partnered with L’Oreal who will host a daytime activation, so W South Beach will literally be a buzz of activity for Miami Swim Week attendees from morning ‘till night.

SWIMMIAMI has quickly become recognized as the premier platform for designers seeking to present collections in a runway format set to international standards due in large part to the producer’s pedigree in the industry of fashion production. LDJ has been an IMG partner for over 10 years and in past years has managed the production of both Miami Swim Week programming in the tents at The Raleigh Miami Beach and NYFW. SBI is also a veteran production company with strong ties with IMG providing scenic elements for the brand’s fashion vertical in New York and Miami.

SWIMMIAMI will kick-off with an opening party on July 14, 2016 at W South Beach’s WET Deck. Runway shows are programmed from Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17, and the current schedule features over 13 shows from swimwear’s hottest designers including Filthy Haanz, Frankie’s Bikinis, Gottex, Hot as Hell, Indah, Issa de’ Mar, KAOHS, Lybethras, Mint Swim, Myra Swim, Revel Rey and San Lorenzo Bikinis.
