In honor of the long holiday weekend, I am excited to share my interview with American Honey Swimwear. I recently spoke with the amazingly gorgeous and talented CEO Andrea Gomez (Left) to hear how her swimwear company was formed.
1. Q: Tell us how you came up with the idea for AHS.
A: American Honey was born August of 2010. That year I basically felt like I was going through my midlife crisis at 23 years old. I had just left my second UC and had no idea what I was going to do with my life. Ever since I was a little girl, I had dreamed of one day becoming a Veterinarian, I guess life had something else in store for me. I always enjoyed designing, I’ve designed my own bikinis since high school. However, I thought of it as a hobby, never a career. This was when all of that changed for me. I knew that I wanted to do something that I would love, something that would never feel like a job. Designing had always been a passion. That August I decided I would turn my passion and love for designing into my future.
2. Q: Where can we buy your sexy designs?
A: American Honey Swimwear is currently sold in two retail stores: Molly Brown’s Swimwear… located in Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, as well as at Pleasure Zone Boutique in Phoenix, Arizona. Both of these stores have their own website.
3. Q: Is AHS currently involved with any charities?
A: We are not yet involved in any charitable causes, however, I do plan to be involved in causes related to eating disorders and animal abuse/rescue. Both causes are very dear to me.
4. Q: What can we expect from AHS in the near future?
A: We are currently in the process of designing more product for the following season. I’m so excited for next season’s designs, I simply can not wait to show everyone the new collection! We are also looking to acquire more retail locations.
5. Q: What has been your most popular piece thus far? 
A: We have two very popular pieces and they couldn’t be more different from each other. Summer’s catch is a white, with black mesh, scrunch bottom bikini that you can wear anywhere. Then we have Maka, an ultra sexy, black with lamb skin leather, studded bikini, that immediately turns heads anywhere you go. Both of these have been a huge hit. I have even worn Maka as a Sexy Cat woman for Halloween, I included this picture (below). My girlfriend dressed up as a she-wolf. 😉
