Winning the Wicked Lottery

I had heard about it on tv & read some reviews, so I thought it would be fun. I had seen many musicals both on and off Broadway, so I was open to hearing more about it. She informed me that if you showed up at 5:30, you could enter the “Wicked Lottery” which would enter you into a random drawing to pay just $25.00 for the coveted $125 Lower Level Orchestra seats. Shockingly only about 30 people were there to enter the Wicked Lottery, so imagine my surprise when my name was the first one called! We were ushered down to our prime real estate seats & we were off on a magical journey though the Land of Oz. From the music, to the Emerald green glittery costumes and the amazing vocals, I was completely hooked! I immediately downloaded the soundtrack and the love affair began.

Wicked tells the story of Glinda the Good Witch of Oz and her frenemy Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of Oz. As we follow the two witches in training through The Shiz Witch Academy, the musical paints a beautiful picture of their blossoming friendship and the twists and turns it takes along the way as they begin to understand the depth of their powers. The show-stopping sequence featuring the Tony award winning song “Defying Gravity” is one that can only be described in one word: breathtaking. The first time I saw this song performed live, it truly took my breath away. The entire audience was on its feet clapping and cheering for the leading lady as she belted out notes that not even Mariah Carey could hit. I am so excited to see it again for this month and relive all the magical moments in the Emerald City.
