One of the ways that I like to express myself is through my poetry. While I have posted some of my work online, I haven’t really shared much of it with people. Only a few close friends have shared this passion for writing with me, and I take much solace in my writing. It is the best way for me to express myself, especially now. Maybe someday I will be brave enough to share my poetry with the “world,” but until then I would love to share one of my top 5 favorite poems of all time. I hope you take some meaning from it, as it reminds me of someone special. Remember to stay true to yourself. xo
Somewhere I Have Never Traveled by e.e. Cummings
Somewhere I have never traveled, gladly beyond any experience.
Your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or things which I cannot touch because they are too near.
Your slightest look will easily unclose me though I have closed myself as fingers,
you open always… petal by petal – myself as Spring opens her first rose.
Or if you wish be to close me, I and my life will shut very beautifully,
suddenly, as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending.
Nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility; whose texture compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breath.
I do not know what it is about you that closes and opens;
only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses.
Nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands.
