While most of the country is grasping on to those last few days of summer, here in Miami we will pretty much be enjoying “summer” at least until daylight savings time. However, that doesn’t mean I can’t get excited about trying out some new makeup for the upcoming months.
Just because you may soon have to trade in those sandals for booties, you don’t need to immediately switch to darker Fall tones. You can transition some end-of-summer makeup essentials into the Fall-idays with a trip to your local ULTA Beauty or Ulta.Com! My final post on the collections from this year’s Miami Swim Week comes from Belusso. Founder and designer Kirsten Ehrig-Sarkisian shares that the Belusso brand was inspired by the laid-back, effortlessly chic looks of Saint Tropez & this new collection features the ebb & flow of nature, feathers, water and sand. The new SS/16 collection was shown at the 1 Hotel South Beach and boasts several celebrity clients who adore the line including Eva Longoria, Chrissy Teigen and Miranda Kerr.
Tori Praver debuted her new “Sonoran Sun” collection in the Funkshion tent on Saturday, July 18th to a packed house. The collection, inspired by her travels through Mexico, the color palette is robust with deep, rich cactus greens and sangria purples, which are infused with light and natural colors in sky blue and nude.
Another show I really enjoyed this year at Swim Week was Caffe Swimwear. Caffe designer Paula Saavedra is known for her bright & decorative beach bags, colorful palettes and high-fashion approach to resort & swim wear. This year’s show, held on the Wet Deck of the W Hotel in South Beach, was a parade of glamour and eye-catching tropical colors.
Happy Monday friends! The madness is over and I cannot believe another Swim Week has come & gone. Let me begin by saying, I really, really missed what was formerly known as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim at the Raleigh Hotel. This was my 3rd year attending Swim Week, and it was definitely the craziest. Obviously because of all the changes this year, many shows were overlapping, several really good shows were scheduled for the exact same time, and different venues were utilized for the runway shows. At the Raleigh, which is known as command central for all the shows, you simply go back and forth between 2 tents for all the shows. This year, guests were running back & forth btwn. The W Hotel, The 1 Hotel, the tent at Collins Park and a few other venues. Needless to say, I am definitely in need of lots of coffee to make it through this Monday!
I find it interesting that many people who attend swim week don’t even attend any fashion shows. Let me just say, I am old (sort-of, ha-ha). I am not into the daytime parties, pool parties, lunches, brunches and the like. I attend for one reason and one reason only- the fashion. I love when the lights go down and the music begins, and the models strut their stuff on the runway. There is something so exhilarating about seeing some of your favorite designers and what they have in store for their Resort 2016 collections!
